WHAT'S NEW: June 2006        




Osher Foundation Gives $5 million grant to Brigham and Women's Hospital
Brigham and Women's Hospital will take a leading role in the emerging field of integrative medicine, thanks to a $5 million gift from the Bernard Osher Foundation. With this gift, BWH will establish the Osher Integrative Care Center, as part of its Ambulatory Care Center at 850 Boylston Street in Chestnut Hill. This new program, scheduled to open in 2007, will offer complementary and integrative medical therapies, such as chiropractic, acupuncture, meditation and movement therapies in combination with conventional medical expertise. Edmonton Conference Huge Success
More than 20 Harvard faculty and staff attended the premier research conference event by the Consortium of Academic Health Centers in Integrative Medicine held May 24-27, 2006 in Edmonton, Alberta. 640 people representing 22 countries attended the event and news of the science was carried on dozens of major media outlets in Canada and the U.S. [more information]

Fellows Graduate into New Positions
Both graduating fellows, Dr. Robert Graham and Dr. Catherine Buettner, will be staying in the Boston/Cambridge area and will remain active members of the Division. [more information]

New Publications
The Division’s Placebo Working Group has been very busy publishing papers over the last year as has the Asian Medicine and Healing Special Interest Group. [more information]
